Surveying the scenery surrounding her Northern California home in Mendocino County, it was through this observation that Rubin became intrigued by the human presence within the context of these environments, particularly natural and man-made bodies of water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In \u201cFollowing the River,\u201d she portrays the Navarro River from above \u2013 its sinuous path carefully follows each bend of the landscape, while a nearby road cuts through without discretion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An exhibition of Rubin\u2019s meticulously rendered paintings titled \u201cA Common Thread,\u201d will be on view at L.A. Louver from February 18 - March 28, 2015.
