McMillen<\/a> on being awarded a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gf.org\/fellows\/all-fellows\/michael-c-mcmillen\/\">2015 Guggenheim Fellowship<\/a>! Using found objects and materials amassed over time, McMillen creates multi-sensory installations, assemblages, sculptures, paintings and films that transport the viewer into a made-up world, steeped in nostalgia and completely imagined by the artist.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a career spanning over 40 years, he has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. A retrospective of his work was presented at the Oakland Museum of California in 2011. In 2014, McMillen created a site-specific installation titled \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lalouver.com\/html\/exhibition.cfm?tExhibition_id=1034\">The Entropic Taxi; Final Destination<\/a>\u201d at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, France.
