Nancy Reddin Kienholz continues to install \u201cOzymandias Parade\u201d at the Pace Gallery in New York, set to open this Thursday, November 1, despite the storm (seen above).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Back on West 25th Street, right in front of the Pace Gallery, a small group had gathered, including a woman with bright red hair. It was Nancy Reddin Kienholz, the widow and artistic partner of Los Angeles sculptor Ed Kienholz. She, Pace\u2019s Peter Boris and a team of art handlers were busy building the couple\u2019s&nbsp;<em>The Ozymandias Parade&nbsp;<\/em>(1985), a gigantic installation\u2014\u201da big damn deal,\u201d she said\u2014that includes a bucking horse and a number of menacing, life-size figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The show is scheduled to open on Thursday evening and, realizing that the weather may prevent anyone from working tomorrow, they \u201cdecided to roll the dice,\u201d she said, to see what they could get done. \u201cWe all understand earthquakes in California,\u201d Ms. Kienholz told us. \u201cBut we don\u2019t understand hurricanes.\u201d In New York, of course, we understand neither of those things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/galleristny.com\/2012\/10\/storm-comes-to-chelsea\/\">galleristny.com, October 29, 2012&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>IMAGE: via The New York Observer<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As Hurricane Sandy powers it\u2019s way to the East Coast, it\u2019s not going to rain on this parade &#8211; at least we hope.
