But don\u2019t take our word for it, here\u2019s a list of recent press generated thus far.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Happy reading!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.apollo-magazine.com\/richard-deacon-february-apollo\/\">Apollo Magazine by Zoe Pilger (Feb 11):&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>[Deacon] describes his fascination with the holes in Swiss cheese, \u201cparticularly the relationship between the hole and the material surrounding the hole\u2026 A number of those wooden works in the \u201890s actually came from standing in the supermarket and looking at cheese.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/artanddesign\/2014\/feb\/09\/richard-deacon-tate-britain-review\">The Guardian by Rachel Cooke (Feb 8):<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u2026Richard Deacon likes to describe himself as a \u201cfabricator,\u201d his work often involving both a great many technical feats\u2026 But, as he has pointed out, the word has a double meaning. \u201cI quite like the idea that a fabrication can be something made up rather than the truth, \u201d he says. \u201cWhen you fabricate something it has a straightforward sense of making, but it also has a sense of invention of make-believe.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/cms\/s\/2\/869d2ce6-8e5a-11e3-b6f1-00144feab7de.html#axzz2si9uEXpk\">Financial Times by Jackie Wullschlager (Feb 7):<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Solid\/void, in\/out, organic\/geometric,soft\/hard: Deacon\u2019s sculptural vocabulary is based on contradictions. The most successful pieces turn on a paradox by which the laborious working processes of steaming, stretching, bending wood are laid bare but the result is light, graceful, flexible.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/goingout\/exhibitions\/richard-deacon-tate-britain--exhibition-review-9109067.html\">London Evening Standard by Ben Luke (Feb 5):<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Deacon\u2019s work is more abstract and enigmatic, less instant in its appeal than Gormley and Kapoor\u2019s. But this handsome, carefully chosen retrospective confirms that over the past 30 years he has created some of the most compelling sculpture around \u2013 and much of it seems to get better with age.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/culture\/art\/art-reviews\/10614724\/Richard-Deacon-Tate-Britain-review.html\">The Telegraph by Alastair Sooke (Feb 3):<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>One of the pleasures of visiting a gallery is encountering works of art by artists at the top of their game. After (1998), by the British sculptor Richard Deacon, who won the Turner Prize in 1987, is a good example of what I mean.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/artanddesign\/2014\/feb\/03\/richard-deacon-sculpture-tate-britain-review\">The Guardian by Adriane Searle (Feb 3):<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>There are forms here that almost escape comprehension, and which feel like spacial conundrums. In his work movement and stasis, volume and gravity, openness, closure and conjunction come together in all kinds of inventive, unexpected and surprising ways.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/artanddesign\/2014\/jan\/31\/sculptor-richard-deacon-tate-britain?CMP=twt_fd\">The Guardian by Nicholas Wroe (Jan 31):<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Sculptor Richard Deacon: why one pair of hands is never enough \u2013 Ahead of his retrospective at Tate Britain, the renowned sculptor tells Nicholas Wroe how he has realized that it doesn\u2019t matter 'who actually puts the screw in\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2014\/01\/30\/sculptor-richard-deacon-why-im-still-a-materials-guy-4282060\/\">Metro by Oliver Jones (Jan 30):<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>It was Deacon\u2019s encounter with not rock start but with a series of enormous rock-carved Buddhas in Sri Lanka that set him on his artistic course. 'I was seven and I remember realising that there used to be a cliff there but there was a Buddha, that the material was the same but that something was lost\u2026 You could sense the absence of the cliff.\u201c<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/culture\/art\/art-features\/10579803\/Richard-Deacon-interview-twisting-chaos-into-shape.html\">The Telegraph by Martin Gayford (Jan 18):<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>[Deacon] confesses to an anxiety about \"the tendency for things to fall apart, for flux to overwhelm us,\u201d then adds: \u201cI don\u2019t really think that shape belongs to things in themselves.
