Today marks the first day of the Venice Beach Biennial, an outdoor exhibition taking place on the Venice Beach Boardwalk through Sunday, July 15. Curated by Ali Subtonick, this event is in conjunction with MADE IN L.A, currently on view at the Hammer Museum.

L.A. Louver Gallery Director, Elizabeth East, beat the weekend crowds and enjoyed a fist hand view of the works and installations located along Ocean Front Walk:

“Day 1 of the Biennial and participating artists ease into the long weekend under cloudy skies, while navigating the spirit of the Boardwalk. Stand-outs include Alexis Smith and Scott Grieger exhibiting together; four "Easter Island” sculptures by Alex Israel; and Nery Gabriel Lemus.“
