The Denver Art Museum is proudly displaying the newest editions to their permanent collection in the exhibition Showing Off: Recent Modern & Contemporary Acquisitions.

Prominently featured in this presentation are two large sculptures by Ben Jackel, who just days ago gave an inspiring lecture on his work to a packed audience at the museum. The event was part of DAM’s ongoing Logan Lecture series, upcoming participants include Robert Irwin and Virgil Ortiz.

To see the beginning stages of Jackel’s large wooden halberd sculpture (featured above), click here to watch a video the work in process.

Showing Off will officially open to the public on May 17, 2015, and remain on view through January 3, 2016. (Keep an eye out for Frederick Hammersley’s black and white geometric painting Black and Forth!)
