Leon Kossoff paints subjects comprised of his immediate surroundings. In the 60’s his Willesden, London studio happened to be near a swimming pool where he began taking his son for lessons. Kossoff commenced upon a study of the swimming pool that resulted in many gestural drawings, and four large paintings of the pool between 1969-1972.
