Read a recent review of Chen Man in the Los Angeles Times

Read a recent review of Chen Man in the Los Angeles Times. Written by David Pagel and titled “Chen Man’s ‘East-West’ at L.A. Louver stirs passions,” the article examines the bold sophistication of Chen Man’s hyperreal photographs and the nuanced complexities of her traditional ink paintings. “It’s easy to see the differences between Man’s paintings and photographs.” states Pagel. “It’s more interesting to see that both are all about mixing things up, stirring east and west, reality and fantasy, intimacy and distance into a moment so packed with luscious color, exquisite composition and extravagantly theatrical razzle-dazzle that it cannot be simply summed up or translated into a Tweet-able take-away. There’s too much to take in on one visit and plenty left over, no matter how crowded the pleasure-fest gets.”

Chen Man: East-West is on view at L.A. Louver through January 24th. Join us for a lecture with the artist on January 6th, a rare opportunity to hear and see Chen Man speak about her work in Los Angeles.
