L.A. LOUVER BUILDING RENOVATION AND WAREHOUSE PROJECTS

L.A. Louver is proud to announce two major building projects that will enhance the gallery’s future exhibition program and private viewing opportunities.

In July 2012, L.A. Louver undertook a major renovation of its gallery building, located at 45 North Venice Boulevard, in Venice Beach, California. The 9,000 square foot building was designed by Frederick Fisher and Partners, and has been the base for all of

L.A Louver’s exhibition activities and administration since 1994.

The gallery exhibition space was closed for two months in July and August 2012, while improvements to the roof, climate control systems and other infrastructural aspects were completed. These major renovations will assure the building’s ability to serve the ambitions of L.A. Louver’s exhibition program in the long term.

L.A. Louver has acquired a 13,000 square foot industrial warehouse space in an emerging urban corridor between Culver City and Central Los Angeles, located in proximity to the new Expo-La Brea Station of the city’s Metro Light Rail public transportation line. The warehouse, built in 1948, is currently undergoing a complete remodel, including a comprehensive seismic retrofitting of its original bowstring truss roof.

The building will serve two major functions for L.A. Louver, providing primary and proprietary art and archival storage for the gallery, and unique private viewing opportunities. With ceiling heights of up to 16 feet, and an unobstructed presentation area of 60 x 112 feet, the flexibility of this space is unlimited.

L.A. Louver is enthusiastic that these infrastructural improvements and new warehouse space will provide more expansive contexts in which to present gallery artists, and to undertake new creative engagements.
