“As with most of my work, Not Because You Don’t Want To uses loose linear geometry as a repetitive pattern to enclose space and serves as an armature that separates the internal from the external. Perforated steel hangs from trapezoidal windows protruding from the center that either push space out or pull it in, barring physical access and disrupting a clear visual entry into its interior. The elements are painted in shades of warm candy colors that shift from a luscious gloss to deeper, subtler tones. Pattern, line, and color conflate into a seduction of what is experienced and what is withheld.”
