Gajin Fujita takes a photo op in front of his newly installed mural located in San Diego’s La Jolla neighborhood.
If the artwork in this mural looks familiar, it was actually taken from Fujita’s original painting “Tail Whip,” 2007, that was most recently shown in his solo exhibition “Gajin Fujita: Ukiyo-e in Contemporary Painting” at the Pacific Asia Museum, Pasadena, CA. Look back at our previous post that highlighted the museum show, and the relationship between ukiyo-e (traditional Japanese form of printmaking) and Fujita’s work.
This mural was made possible by the efforts and funding of the Murals of La Jolla, a community initiative founded to enrich arts programs in La Jolla.
