The Central Academy of Fine Arts Museum (CAFAM) in Beijing was treated to a special lecture event by David Hockney. In front of a packed audience, and in conversation with Art Theory Professor Shao Dazhen, Hockney introduced the Chinese audience to his most recent body of work that merges painting and photography. By seamlessly stitching together multiples images (all taken within close range) and utilizing multiple perspectives within a single composition, Hockney achieves an uncanny three-dimensional effect that emerges from the flat surface.
The works in discussion will be included in the solo exhibition David Hockney: Painting and Photography, coming to Annely Juda Fine Art, London in May 2015 and L.A. Louver in July 2015. A catalogue will be published on the occasion of the joint exhibition.

How great would it be to have this lecture in Los Angeles!
