Today the artist turns 78, but don’t let his age fool you. Hockney continues to remain just as dedicated to his studio work, with a relentless drive to explore new innovative ways to make images. Whether photographic collages, fax drawings, copy machine offset printing, or iPad drawings, Hockney has enjoyed a lifelong fascination with utilizing technology as a medium.
His most recent development is a new series of photographic drawings that are comprised of hundreds of images, all captured at close range, then seamlessly stitched together and enhanced to construct a singular composition, but with multiple vanishing points. We are thrilled to be showing this exciting new body of work in Hockney’s upcoming exhibition “Painting and Photography” – which opens at L.A. Louver on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
