We are excited to work with Australian artist, Grant Stevens

10 Mar 2012

We are excited to have the opportunity to work with Australian artist, Grant Stevens for our upcoming January 2013 exhibition at L.A. Louver. Dealing predominantly in video and sculpture, Stevens explores mass media, consumer culture and the Internet, and their effect on our various social interactions and experiences.

Part of what I’m interested in is how our personal experiences, no matter how seemingly profound and unique, can also be common, shared, generic, repetitive, banal…This is why I use sources like the Internet, film, television, music, advertising, etc. They offer templates on screens through which to modify and gauge our own experiences.

– Grant Stevens

Born in 1980, Grant Stevens lives and works in Brisbane, Australia. He attended the Queensland University of Technology, where he earned a BFA in 2002, and was awarded a PhD in fine art in 2007. Since 2005, Stevens has shown his work in over 30 exhibitions in Australia and internationally, including The Art Gallery of New South Wales; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney; The Queensland Art Gallery; and Torrance Art Museum, Torrance, CA.

Recently, Grant Stevens was commissioned by the newly expanded Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney to create a new video work, which will be revealed with the Museum’s reopening in March 2012. A solo exhibition of Stevens’ work “Seriously Relax,” will open on 15 March 2012 at Barry Keldoulis Gallery in Sydney, on view through 28 April 2012.
