Where did you grow up in LA?
Boyle Heights, East LA
What is your favorite thing about Los Angeles?
The weather. Because I work outside, I think the weather suits my process very well. I can’t imagine myself working in New York or anywhere else.
Where do you find inspiration for your studio practice?
My father, he was a painter and seeing him have the opportunity to have a recognized career in painting.
Favorite eat in LA?
I would have to say my mom’s cooking, Japanese food or Asian food in general. Also yakitori, there are a few yakitori restaurants in LA, Little Tokyo, Sawtelle, and Echo Park.
Favorite film?
The Seven Samurai by Kurosawa. It’s a historical film, it takes me back into what lives were like in Japanese history. It’s an epic long movie.
Studio playlist highlights?
Recently I’ve been tuning into sports radio, recently the baseball playoff games. Sometimes I’m listening to pink while Floyd working or Bob Marley.
