Leon Kossoff was recently profiled in the UK-based journal The Guardian. Rarely granting interviews, Kossoff “conversed” with chief arts writer Charlotte Higgins about his current exhibition “London Landscapes” – which opens next week at Annely Judy Fine Art in London (May 8 - July 7, 2013). The exhibition will then travel to to Galerie Lelong in Paris (12 September - October 26, 2013); Mitchell-Innes & Nash in New York (November 5 - December 21, 2013)’ and finally L.A. Louver in Venice, CA (23 January - 1 March 2014).
The exhibition centers around Leon Kossoff’s insatiable drive to capture his beloved hometown of London. “London Landscapes” is mainly comprised of drawings depicting London that Kossoff created over the past 60 years. Now at 86 years old he continues to draw as a vital practice of discovery admitting, “The main thing that keeps me going all these years is my obsession that I need to teach myself to draw."
