“The Rainbow Lake photographs presented in the show are from a larger project titled Lakes and Reservoirs. In this project, I have photographed lakes and reservoirs around the western United States. Upon photographing these bodies of water, I also collect the water, which is brought back to my studio. A c-print is made from the photo I took, then that print is soaked in the water that corresponds to its lake or reservoir. In essence, the lake’s photographic image is soaked in its own water. Over time, the water begins to degrade its image surface, and the inherent layered properties of the c-print technology begin to degrade. Lakes and Reservoirs are relics of this process.”
