Rina Banerjee’s solo exhibition “What am I made of and how do you know my name?” opens at Ota Fine Arts in Tokyo this Friday, November 22.
Using an amalgamation of found objects and materials, Banerjee’s new assemblage works deal with the issue of identity in our growing digital world – an issue she attempts to resolve by viewing the natural world and human world as mirror reflections of one another. In the artist’s words: "Like clouds consist of water molecules, our character needs layers of accumulation until it can be visible in society.“
The exhibition will be on view through January 31, 2014.
