In celebration of Earth Day, we thought it would be most fitting to share a photograph by Rogue Wave ‘13 artist, Matthew Brandt. This work belongs to a larger series documenting Rainbow Lake in Wyoming. Using a film camera, Brandt photographed various sections of the lake and developed the imagery with water gathered directly from the lake, using the traditional technique of c-print processing. As a result, the imagery becomes distorted from detritus in the collected water, creating an almost painterly abstract composition.
To learn more about Brandt’s work and his unconventional approach to photography, here’s a video we produced on him in conjunction with our Rogue Wave 2013 group exhibition.
