The British public has voted, and they’ve chosen David Hockney!

The British public has voted, and they’ve chosen David Hockney’s 1977 painting “My Parents” to be displayed on billboards and outdoor sites across the UK.

Under the direction of Sir Antony Gormley and Grayson Perry, the Art Everywhere initiative seeks to engage arts advocacy in public spaces. “Works in public collections form an important part of our collective visual memory, marking a particular place, time and person,” said Sir Antony. “It is great that these works are being celebrated and shared in this way.”

“My Parents” resides in Tate Britain’s collection. This intimate portrait of Hockney’s parents was done just a year before his father’s death. Learn more about the painting here
