We’re gearing up for Sui Jianguo’s upcoming exhibition, his first U.S. gallery solo show to date. Included is this colossal bronze sculpture, Schwarzwald, measuring nearly 8 ft. (3 m) tall and 17 ft. (6 m) wide. Inspired by time spent in Germany’s Black Forest, Sui simulates the the forest’s density through a commanding wall of seemingly viscous black drips that puddle onto the floor.
