The first West Coast exhibition of Fred Williams' paintings of the Australian landscape. A 60-page, full-color catalogue, with an essay by Patrick McCaughey, is published in conjunction with the exhibition.

Patrick McCaughey has been the Directror of three major art museums: the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne (1981-87); the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, Conn (1988-96); The Yale Center for British Art, New Haven (1996-2001). He produced the first comprehensive monograph on Fred Williams in 1980, subsequently reprinted three times. In 2003 he published an Australian memoir, The Bright Shapes and the True Names (Text, Melbourne). He lives and works as a writer in New Haven, Connecticut.
